Geláre at e@curve

I love ice cream. Most people love ice cream. So what's the ultimate ice cream?

At Geláre, ice cream is rich, full flavoured and guarantees a smile on your face. And to have it with waffles and pancakes, life only gets better. Geláre in Italian means "to freeze". For many ice cream lovers, Geláre is indeed the "Ultimate Ice Cream". Its rich, creamy, smooth and intensely flavoured. What else can one ask for?

Geláre at e@curve is a must visit. Enjoy ice cream on freshly made pancakes and waffles. It is so heavenly that my mouth is watering even as I write.

I am fussy pot when it comes to waffles. It must be crispy on the outside and so rich fluffy inside. And here at Geláre at e@curve, this is how their waffles are made. Plain waffles are RM11.90. Waffles with a scoop of ice cream is RM17.90 and 2 scoops for RM21.90. Sounds expensive? When you taste it, its worth every cent!

Crispy on the outside and fluffy soft on the inside. Yummy!

My fave Jamaican Chocolate

Here's a whole list of ice cream flavours to choose from:
• Banana • Blueberry Cheesecake • Cappuccino • Caramel Fudge Brownie • Chocolate Overload • Cookie Dough • Jamaican Chocolate • Mocha Chip • Oregon Hazelnut • Oregon Mint Fudge • Rum and Raisin • Strawberry • Swiss Chocolate Caramel • Vanilla Bean • White Chocolate Raspberry

Ice cream being too sinfully rich? Fret not! There's the option of having the Raspberry and Mango sorbet too.

You can opt for pancakes to if you like a lighter bite. Here's some...opt it with strawberry, blackberry, bananas or even have it plain with some cream and maple syrup. Heavenly...

And in case you do not have a sweet tooth, you can still accompany your loved one or pals here for a meal. Check out their offerings of sandwiches, muffins, scones, pies and cheesecakes.

There's also an assortment of fruit juices and fruit smoothies for the health buffs. A must try is also their gourmet coffee which is such a great option after the sinfully rich ice creams and waffles.

So what are you waiting for? Head down to Geláre real quick!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day.

But as far as I am concerned, its Valentine's Day everyday. That is how life is supposed to be celebrated. Love like there is no tomorrow. Live like there is no tomorrow.

I don't discount its nice to be pampered on this day. But to have to pay some elaborate price seems a bit far fetched for me:P I do remember a pal who bought roses a week ahead and kept them in his fridge till it was time to deliver to his love (now his wifey). And on one particular year when they were still students, he spent a few nights making 101 red ribbon roses for her. Sweet max if you ask me.

No idea about what we're gonna do on today's Valentine's Day - the official day. But it'll be dinner together (as usual). Will it be somewhere posh or special? Dunnolah. We'll go with the flow. Although I am seriously craving some hokkien mee action in Lian Bee (somewhere in an alley in Kuala Lumpur). And Geláre waffles and ice cream for dessert? LOL...we'll seelah.

Monsoon galore at Ruby's Resort (again)

Spent my new year countdown at Ruby's Resort at Cherating. It was monsoon. Yeah monsoon with rain, winds and grey skies. Still it wasn't a deterrent to us. We had our fun in the rain and the sun came up when we departed:P And this is actually my second time in Cherating during the monsoon.

I supposed being at Ruby's Resort, rain or shine, Aunty Ruby ensures that we have fun. The place itself is fun enough. And couple with buddies like Carlee, Jo and Lilian, the place was hilariously fun. Rain or shine, we had our fun. We walked a little in the rain. What choice had we? Our furkids needed to do their "business".

Oh...check out the cute lazy cats at Ruby's Resort.
As with any trips we had, we surely had our food escapades. Here's some pics. Will elaborate more in another post(s). But one thing for sure, this trip we discovered that Cherating and Kemaman has a fair selection of pork. Not kidding! Its largely a Muslim area but yes there is pork.

New Year's eve was different from the rest. It was raining. And having steamboat on a rainy night is certainly super duper fun. Here's some shot of our folks cooking. Hehehe a simple egg takes skills.

And the "funnest" was the playing UNO. A good fun game that most of us played. But because most of us had not played it for ages, it became hilarious that we were showing our cards to each other while we figured out the rules of the game. UNO...I'm so hooked on it. I can't wait to play it again. Hmmmm must organise an UNO Session soon.

Midnight came...its 2011! Yippee we welcomed the new year together with some of my dearest friends. Bliss!

We departed on 1st January. After 2 days of gray skies, the sun finally came out. The winds were still there but the sea was nicely calm. Jo and I dashed out in our bikinis. We needed the sun. I needed the sun so so so much. And Shalom wanted her walk on the beach (and soak in the sea - that water baby needed no encouragement to dash into the water).

And we as usual went out to gather shells:D
B and Shalom are both old girls - 9 and 8 years old respectively. But check them out when they chased each other at the beach. Amazingly almost like young puppies:P
It was crazy fun. So much so I've booked my stay for April and August (again). This 2 periods are when the skies and sea are beautifully blue...

Missyblurkit fun in the sun!

I love playing under the sun. No doubt about it. But what I don't enjoy is getting burnt. Its partially being a vain pot - I don't want to have dry patchy skin. Neither do I want skin cancer! So applying and reapplying sunblock has always been a primary concern for me for all my activities.

Ocean Potion sounds like a magic potion.

Well, since November last year, it has been my magic potion for all my sunny activities every weekend. And if you've met me personally, you'll have to admit, I pretty much stayed the same shade.

And just for the fun of it, I've entered a contest that Ocean Potion Malaysia has organised. Well...you can take part in it too. And you can also vote / like my entry with the following simple steps:D

Water retention blues

S.U.L.K

S.U.L.K

S.U.L.K

Aaaargh...I can't wear my jeans! I look pregnant! I look swollen! I'm bloated like a balloon. The cellulite looks even worse on such days. Not emoing but there are such bad days called water retention!

And this morning, this is one of those "fine" days.

On any good day, I would prefer to boil my own barley, adding some pandan leaves (screw pine) for some extra flavour. It takes about an hour on slow fire if you use the smaller barley seeds. If you opt for the chinese ones - bigger in size, be prepared to at least boil for 2 hours with some presoaking before you boil it. This chinese barley (my aunt and late granny say is more cooling).

Today started real early 430am. Pretty much dashed my thoughts of boiling my own barley. Opted instead to order from Ah Keong (the coffee shop next to my office - also known as Gangster Paradise). Feeling much better after 1 cup of the warm barley. And I like my barley unsweetened!

And while we're on water retention, I really have no idea why it happens to me. Perhaps I had too much salty food the day before? But it just happens...and most days a glass or two of barley water helps.

Some other tricks that I found that helps to ease my water retention:
• exercising on a regular basis. On bad days, a 30 minutes run sorts me out quite well.
• eat some celery and cucumber sticks or watercress.
• a fruit juice with some celery in it also helps. Green apple and celery go well together.
• small amount of green tea or coffee acts as a natural duretic. The caffeine acts as duretics - this as seen in medication prescribed for PMS bloating.
• ensure that you drink at least 1.5 Litres of water.

Now...to the little girls room before I grab another cup of barley:D

CNY Touge Picnic

The very first CNY that we did not go anywhere nor really celebrated as I'm still within the 1 year mourning period of my gram's demise.

Seriously bored on Day 3, we decided that we needed a drive somewhere with the lil one. Obviously Shalom was happier than anyone else. Again we didn't exactly know where we wanted to go. So we packed ourselves a simple picnic:
• a flask of green tea & water
• peanuts
• cookies
• prawn crackers
• apple
treats for the lil one

Off we went after a hearty breakfast at Hainam Coffee. Ah...the breakfast sets are wholesome and value for money. I love the bread and eggs (so did Shalom:P).

Armed with our picnic basket and tank full petrol, we started off with Ulu Yam. And the drive just went on and on. Stopped at Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB). Wanted to have our picnic at our usual spot near the dam but the usual spot was closed (festive break).

So we drove off a wee further and opted for the stream. A lovely spot under the trees. Nestled on some comfy rocks, we had gushing water on one side and a calm spot for Shalom. Enjoyed our picnic, we even had our family photo that I'll be submitting for my Ocean Potion entry. The gushing part of the area was fun. It was almost like a bubbly spa:D
It was lunch time and more people started coming in including a family of almost 40 people. So we packed our stuff and headed off for Frasers - Raub - Bentong.

Took a break at Chamang Falls - a place that hubby that went when he was a boy scout. Its my first time here and the falls are awesome. With clean amenities for changing, food stalls and ample parking space, this will be a nice picnic spot for the Spyder boys after our weekend drive.

We continued on to Bukit Tinggi Village for lunch and vegie shopping. Went gaga over passion fruit. A whole lot of them - 10kg for my passion fruit enzyme project for my sister in law.

By now the lil one was a wee exhausted. So its top up and the aircon for her to snooze on our return leg home. Nice snoozing, we opted for Janda Baik - old Mimaland road. Utterly fun windy roads with barely any traffic. Bliss!

Reached home at almost 5pm. The young one was exhausted but nevertheless very happy. Slept throughout dinner time and even while we were watching TV.

Conclusion? Day 3 of 2011 CNY was fun with our dive to nowhere:P
