Le Porc Dor- pork satay galore

I've not visited Hutong for a couple of months for dinner. Thank goodness to the notorious no appointment needed KL traffic, we ended up in Hutong Lot 10 for dinner. And the usual me will have my pork noodles, beef noodles, wantan mee and orchien for sure.

Quite contended with dinner, I was making plans to head down to Dessert Brother for dessert. But someone walked pass and stopped. He asked if we wanted satay. Hmmm..."We have pork satay and chicken satay".

PORK SATAY!!!

Now that is new! Yes I want my pork satay. Half a dozen please. And since we were on it, we decided that some sugar cane water will be good to cool us down.

The wait begins...pork satay fasterlah.

Satay arrived in 5 minutes or so. It did look promising and definitely tasted superb. It was juicy inside. Well marinated with a subtle hint of lemongrass - I love it to bits. 6 sticks for RM10.50 was a good deal. I could not get enough of it so another plate was required:D

The satay sauce is generous with peanuts. Thick and tasty you want to have more of it.

Ooops, there are 2 satay stall in Hutong. This porky one is sitting behind Sun Moulin. The stall that says Kajang satay in behind Mr Bao is not the stall that I am referring to.

Here's an affirmation why I absolutely love Beef KIng 牛王

Beef King in Pudu is one of my fave haunts for morning or lunch beef noodles. Slightly herbal soup that comes with your soupy noodles or even the beef balls when you opt for the dry version. And the meat is not overcooked! See what I mean from the pictures?

Another must have is the loh see fun in soup. This is of limited bowls. What's unique is the loh see fun is minus the pang sa or borax to make it chewy. Its the good old fashion style. I have yet to be able to have a whole bowl to myself. Only was "lucky" to get a few strands of it in my bowl of noodles - whatever strands that is left over whenever I go there:-(

I must have it sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon!

Tangkak Beef Noodles

I went on a beef noodle back back frenzy. And went back to Tangkak Beef Noodles along Jalan Imbi again and again:D

Its halal. And the taste is simply superb. Beefy stock and the meat and parts cooked just right. A little salted vegetable (ham choy / kiam chai) is sprinkled on the top to enhance the whole dish.

The first time I had in meehoon. Then I also tried in ramen and wow, the ramen is eggy and nice. It certainly did go well with the beef stock. And on my third round, I had laifun (normally we have this in laksa) and surprisingly, the silky noodles went on well with the flavourful soup! My mouth waters even as I post this and I might well drop in for dinner shortly:P

A tip here is to add a little vinegar into the soup to enhance the taste. Advise is to add quarter soup spoon and build up to your preference.

Tangkak Beef Noodles is also unique as they serve 2 types of chilly sauce. One is your conventional chicken rice sauce and the other is a spicy tangy. I like the spicy tangy and would dip my noodles, the balls and also the noodles into it.

The meat balls are nice but is not the best. Still its good enough:D Perhaps its ot consistent here. Somedays it taste a lil soft like home made one. Some days its nice and firm. But at all times its still roburst in flavour as good meatballs should be.

And if you're greedy (like me) and wouldn't mind the stomach etc, then order then "everything" and mind you this comes only in one size i.e. large. But its so good, even if you're a small eater like a pal of ours, he ordered to tapau home for his supper:P

Its rather easy to find this place. 133 Jalan Imbi. Almost pposite Overseas restaurant and it will be on your left hand side. Oh! Its also the same row as Dominoes Pizza and 7-11

PS: This place has thus moved to:
No. 287, Jalan Mahkota,
Taman Maluri,
55100 Kuala Lumpur.
M: +6017 336 8805

PS2: They also have a promotion running. Check it out at

Beef King

Beef King 牛王. Its a direct translation and one of the few characters that I can read and write in Chinese:PIts the 2nd row of shops behind Caltex of Jalan Pudu. I've forgotten to take pics of the shops:P but will do so in my next trip there. Address:
Jalan Brunei off Jalan Pudu
Well in case you get lost:P
• coming from Berjaya Times Square, turn left into Jalan Pudu.
• continue straight with pudu prison on your right.
• continue straight and keep left.
• when you see a car showroom Sri Manis and Caltex, turn left.
• look for parking.
• its opposite a frame shop hidden behind a big tree with a curry laksa and chicken rice stall.

This little rather hidden place in Pudu serves superb beef noodles. The soup is beefy and has salted vegie in it. In a way it also has some slight herbal after taste. Sound like a strange combination right? But that's really how it is.Tasted both dry and soupy. Verdict - its equally good. The noodles are the wantan mee ones. No funny texture to it. And with a rather rich sauce which I have not seen or tasted anywhere else. Yes a generous serving of mince meat too. The chilli sauce is quite yummy and goes really well with meatballs and the dry noodles itself of you like spicy. Its uniquely spicy and sour:D
The beef balls here are rather hearty. Not the flour laden ones. And its really rich and flavourful too.
I am not one to spend time taking pics and let the meat overcook. So after my satisfying meal, I proceeded to take pics of what you can expect in your noodles.
