Shalom turns 7!

OMG but my lil girl Shalom is all grown up and turned 7 over the weekend. 7 years old and I still call her a lil gal. That I supposed has everything to do with her manjaness, her running and jumping around the house every day!

Her current nick divashalom pretty much came about when I set up her twitter account. Shalom was not available so I thought why not divashalom since this Royal Highness demands to sit nothing but on chairs at home and parties. And when we're put in the park or beach, its the mat or only soft sand. No pricky grass for this diva!

This time around, I thought why not bake everything from scratch on my own for my kiddo. After all I have been baking 90% of her treats. So its a good time to share some wholesome almost organic goodness with her pals from her obedience classes, jungle trekking, beach bumming, makan & twitter kakis. Baking all those cookies and cakes wasn't easy amidst a busy period at my boutique sized ad agency. But I have no regrets doing so. It was therapeutic and mostly so when I saw the happy faces of the furkids when they ate.

We had tonnes of fun on that fine Sunday morning at One Utama Central Park. THANX to all who braved the rain and also did the sun dance. We had an amazing dry ground and mildly sunny weather when it was pretty much raining everywhere else! The furslaves (us) brought our own picnic nad yoga mats and settled down under the tress and enjoyed our breakfast. The birthday picnic was BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat) and BYOB (Bring Your Own Breakfast)! Many thanx for the lovely mini potluck to pals who also brought some yummy goodness. Edleen & Adam brought lovely nasi lemak bungkus. Jo made us chicken avocado sandwiches. Gladys who had to miss the picnic baked us lovely chocolate chip banana cake! Visit her website for the recipe!

This momma here basically packed the picnic for the kids. I reckon the kids will not complain on bad food:P

Oh oh oh...this was not a picnic for those with furkids only. We had pals like Wijay who swung by even though he does not have a furkid. Yeah wijay has always been a big part of Shalom's picnics and parties. And I must thank Wijay coz he actually went searching for candles at 8am on that Sunday morning coz this momma forgot the candles for her baby. THANX bro. *muaks muaks muaks*

Heres some pics for her 7th birthday do. Didn't take much pictures as I was busy being mummy to her 7 year old diva:P And also special thanx to Andrew, Cai Lin, Mae V and Rocky for the use of some pictures taken by them that I have used here too!

Ally & Fatty 5th birthday bash

Yesterday we celebrated Ally and Fatty's birthday at La Castle. Their daddy Eric and mummy Jaclyn had the girls all dressed up prettily.

Amongst the friends who came along were Beemer, Hershey, Lucky and Shalom. Shalom was absolutely delighted when we arrived home early to pick her up for this birthday gathering. And was equally excited and delighted when we arrived at La Castle.

The birthday girls soon arrived after us. And the usual meet and greet - sniff my bummy and yours - started. We placed them in the play pen for the meet and greet session. When all were ready, we proceeded to sit outside with the furkids to have dinner.

And what is a furkids birthday bash without cakes and party packs. The host Eric and Jaclyn arranged for these lovely cupcakes and party packs:D

The kids really had fun eating the cuppies. And when eating and playing is all in order, it was time to head home for the much needed rest. Shalom was all so sleepy at about 1030:P

Shalom turns 6

Our lil gal finally turns 6. A huge furball with lots of love and certainly a very cheeky babe.

A friend commented that Shalom is lucky to have been adopted by us. I seek to differ. In fact we are so blessed to have her in our lives. Coming home to a furry ball of joy and jumps and licks. After a tiring and long day at work, its so good to be greeted by her and her choice of toy. Yes...her choice of toy. Somedays, it is her octopus, another day the pink slipper, some other days she will choose the dinosaur. It all changes and hehe, she has amassed over 40 toys on her own. I have not included the ones not given to her yet and those from her birthday presents.

It was a fun day in the park with food for the furslaves and furmasters (furkids) alike. Something new that I learnt for the kids, jelly cake! Will be making it for a picnic with the furkids very soon. But I think I will make it with more meat and some mince so that I can achieve a harder consistency. Some of the kids didn't know how to eat the soft ones.

Birthday cake was superb lamb and pumpkin with lots of love and attentin by a wonderful friend Min. Min makes lovely cakes for humans and furkids. Check her out at http://mamamin.wordpress.com/

The 50 party packs finished. We gave to her pals who could not make it too. And think we had close to 40 furkids for the 3 hour picnic. Some kids went into the pond. Shalom being such a water baby, I had a tough time keeping an eye on her. She was making her way to the pond inch by inch and slowly...only to hear her momma scream "Shalommmmmmmm" and the lil one runs back to me. LOL.

It was good to note that one of her friends, a black poodle boy Mika who was so scared of water prior to our Cherating trip, now loves water so much. his slaves for the days Alex and Jacklyn had to hang on ti him for fear that he would get himself all wet by jumping into the pond. They came unprepared with towels.

Human...do you know that a Malaysian fave "Nasi lemak" goes well with Siu Yok (BBQ pork). Amazing combination and definitely potently potent as far as the cholesterol is concerned with coconut milk and pork fat (lard). But thanx to Alex, we discovered that joyous sinful food:P.
