www.FattyCrabs.com

and you'll think we're talking about the one in Taman Megah. Nope! Absolutely not! This www.FattyCrabs.com that I'm talking about is the one and original www.FattyCrabS.com that is the first in town (or for that matter in Malaysia I believe) who does crab delivery. Yeah crab delivery so that you can eat your crabs and lick your fingers, suck the crab out of the claw, lick the shell clean in the comforts of your own home right in front of the TV (Confession: this is how I like to eat my crab at home sans table manners:P).

I highlighted the letter S to differentiate it from the Fatty Crab shop in Taman Megah.

Now back to www.FattyCrabs.com. Ever since they started crab delivery last September 2010, they have been asked by their regular clients to set up a restaurant for them to dine at. After some thoughts, Franco decided it was a good idea. A naturally it was to be set up as close as possible to their kitchen that has been whipping out the crabs that are cooked and delivered (hot and yummy) to their clients around Klang Valley. Thus it is in Taman Seputeh beside Federal Highway and opposite Volvo / Mid Valley.

When I arrived, I wasn't too sure what to make out of the place. It didn't look exactly like a restaurant from the outside. However I was in for a pleasant surprise when I opened the door. There was a table of 2 guests busy eating their crabs in what I call finger licking good style. No doubt about it. This is the place! www.FattyCrabs.com

While I waited for Eric and the rest to arrive, we helped ourselves to their yummy appetiser and peanuts. This is one snack that once you start, you probably would not stop unless food arrived:P This place is self service like your own home for cutlery, water, mantou, peanuts & their extremely yummy appetiser
We ordered a fruit juice mocktail that was really a very refreshing concoction of dragon fruit. The drink comes in a bottle so shake it well before pouring it out. And if you're one of those who love a juice or a salad before your meal, this dragon fruit mocktail is just perfect! It certainly whets your appetite for the delicious things to come.
The first dish arrives in a claypot. The lid is removed and a lovely Tofu Kang is revealed. A warm soupy dish of beancurd, this is quite an appetiser. Smooth and warm, its a very "happy" dish to kick start our dinner. Its not made of too much of cornstarch because the cooled down ones in my bowl (I am a slow eater) did not end up watery. And if you love soups, this is a highly recommended dish.
I have to say that I was a wee disappointed with the Thai style Lala Fried Meehoon. It was tasty but I felt that it didn't have enough lala and the lala was a tad too big for this fried noodle dish. The owner Franco did share that he was actually still sourcing for the smaller lala that is more suitable for fried noodles.
Another claypot arrives. After the Tofu Kang, I was quite happy to see anything that arrives in a claypot. And true enough, the Yellow Emperor Bean Fish Head is absolutely yummy. This is one dish that will have you asking for a second helping of rice. The gravy that accompanied the fish is utterly delicious bursting with the sweetness of the fish juices. A tad spicy and salty, it was just a perfect dish to start my carbo loading habit:D
We also ordered the Nyonya Style Prawn and Fish Otak-otak as it is quite popular with their regular customers. I can't comment much on this as I have never been much of an Otak-otak person since I don't really fancy coconut milk which is used to make otak-otak. However, hubby said it was yummy. It was not overly spicy and the whole idea of cooking it with a banana leaf added quite an interesting aroma to the otak-otak.
Prawns. I love prawns. And at www.FattyCrabs.com the Milky Melt Butter Prawn is a must have. Mouth watering and rich with the subtle flavour of curry leaves, this is one dish that will have you licking up the rest of the sauce. Yes this is also another recommended must have dish here.
Finally the crabs arrive. We had a tough time figuring out what to order. Afterall, we're talking about 18 different ways to have your crab!

If you like spicy stuff, have a try at the Malat Szechuan Crabs. A league of its own, this is spicy (and I would say a tad spicy for some people). However the whole malat taste is actually quite interesting when combined with the sweet tender crab meat. See the chilli seeds and the equally red looking chilli? This is not for the faint hearted:P
Bei Fong Thong Garlic Crab is a must have if you like garlic. The garlic is crisp and goes well with the natural sweetness of crabs. Be forewarned, you need to plan the items that you're ordering if you want to have the Bei Fong Thong Garlic Crab. This dish can be quite overpowering thus I would personally prefer to have this preparation as the last dish.
Sweet and Sour Crab is a regular style that many places serve their crabs. So if you like this preparation, then you must try the Sweet and Sour Crab here with its unlimited supply of mantou for you to soak up the sweet and savoury gravy. Bursting in flavours and textures if you were to combine the mantou, crab and the gravy.
My fave for the night is the Salt Baked Dong Quai Crab. This lightly herbal and salty preparation makes the best of the crabs. Simple and unassuming looking yet it tasted the best. And it hereby declared the Most Must Have Crab at www.FattyCrabs.com. OK...there are another 14 more styles that I have not tried. But among the 4 that night, the Salt Baked Dong Quai Crab was the obvious winner!
The price is a wee pricey but I am not complaining as they serve very meaty and tasty Indonesian Orange Claw Crab which weigh at least 550 grammes each.

And with www.FattyCrabs.com being so conveniently located in Taman Seputeh, I have every reason to make this my new haunt for crabs. Afterall I can opt to walk (or run) or even drive over from my home. And shoppers, make sure you check out www.FattyCrabs.com when you next shop at Mid Valley as it is walking distance from Mid Valley!
