Nasi Lemak 2.0

If you're Malaysian, you'll know what is nasi lemak. And in case you don't know what it is? Well, its basically a dish of yummy rice cooked in coconut milk served with some yummy condiments on the side including peanuts, egg, cucumber and a spicy sauce called sambal.

I attended the gala premiere of Nasi Lemak 2.0. Had such good time laughing. But one thing that struck me most was that Namewee had managed to tell the story of Malaysians. What makes us uniquely Malaysians never mind that we may be Chinese, Indian or even a Malay. And to use nasi lemak which is such an iconic dish of Malaysia to tell the story...its just brilliant!

This movie also marks Namewee's first time attempt (and well done I have to say) as an All-In-1. Yes this man is the director, script writer, lead actor and music director of this movie. The story revolves around a young and rather arrogant Chinese Chef Huang (Namewee) who is seeked by Xiao K (Karen Kong) to help her save her father's restaurant. To win, they must create the ultimate dish and taichi master stall owner (Adibah Noor) sends them on an "adventure" around Malaysia.

And it screens tomorrow, go grab your tickets and watch it. Appreciate that this movie was filmed under RM1 million. No high tech cameras but a simple collaboration with Canon. For budding film makers, let Nasi Lemak 2.0 be your source of inspiration that its more than just cameras that make good movies and films.
