Nostalgia Bersama Tersayang @ The Saujana Hotel

I recently broke fast at the Saujana Hotel with good food from their Nostalgia Bersama Tersayang promotion in the good company of some lovely friends. It was awesome. A lovely selection of fresh traditional "kampung" dishes served by the pool and pond amidst the greenery brought back a good nostalgic kampung feel.
Coupled with live ghazal music in the background, this is certainly one of my favourite buka puasa experience.
As I walked around, I was quite amaze by the selection of food. I have to admit that I got quite carried away looking at the food that I kinda forgot some pictures. Do check out more pictures at Jen's blog!

The smell of cooking satay is a truly mesmerizing aroma. And seeing the live action of satay being cooked has always been one of my favourite activity since I was a child. When the cooked satay is juicy, flavourful and yummy, it is just simply awesome.
Equally yummy was the grilled fish. I have to admit I was quite mesmerized by the fish that I somehow lost the fishes especially the bawal hitam. It was lightly marinated and not overcooked. The skin was nice and slightly crisp while the meat was tender and juicy. Yummeh! Thanx Jen for the pics. *meow*
Another fave was the roast lamb. The meat was still juicy and didn't "smell". Neither was the marinate overwhelming. I can't recall how many servings I took but I did take quite a bit from hubby's plate:P

The variety at The Saujana is good. What is equally impressive is its freshness. Among some of the local yummy delights are Ikan Tongkol Masam Pedas, Chicken Rendang and Pineapple Prawn Curry.
An equally good selection of Indian food. The roti canai and tosai was really yummy!
And Chinese food.
Rojak is a must try The sauce is rather good!
Now that I look back, realised that I took this picture of the kebab but I did try it. Alamaks....
I love the fruit station. Quite a good selection of fruits to choose from when we break fast (I opt for fruits as I don't quite like dates).
And for the sweet tooth...Its a whole selection of local and Western delights to choose from!
Here's my ice kacang. Lots of brown sugar and sweet corn topped with peanuts. And for a local childhood memories, Paddle Pop ice cream. Hehehe.
So hurry over to Senja @ The Saujana. The Nostalgia Bersama Tersayang priced at RM94++ ends 26th August 2011.

A decade of being Mrs Loo

Today Dennis and I celebrate our 10th year wedding anniversary. Yeah a whole decade of love, squabbles, poking and teasing each others. Its been fun:D

Here's some of my fave pics of us over the 10 years. We tend to take goofy pics...so have a good laugh!
Hehehe...but 10 years ago this very day, I lost my wedding ring and found it back. On the steps of Concorde Hotel. How could I do it? Well the ring was loose (I was seriously skinny then) and I was playing with it in the car during our drive from the Marriage Registrar to to hotel for our breakfast with the family. And somehow, it dropped out of my finger when I got out of the car of. I was frantic halfway through breakfast when I realised I didn't have my wedding ring! OMG...we drove off with Andy (our best man) and not too far off, my sis calls me "Hey! I found your ring on the steps of the hotellah". Phew! Confession: I still have a habit of fiddling with my ring.
Friends have asked why the flower wedding ring? Truth...I think that's the only one we could find 3 days before our wedding that has a blue sapphire and a ring that also fits my finger! The blue sapphire was to represent the happiness and peace that comes as we start a life together as Mr and Mrs Loo.

Good food & free parking @ Micasa KL

If you're downtown in KL, hop over to Micasa KL for some awesome food and dessert at The Deli. The menu is perfect with salads, pastas, meat dishes, sandwiches, desserts and coffee / tea. There's something for everyone.

One of my regular faves is the Roast Beef Sandwich @ RM20. Juicy roast beef with your choice of bread. Pour the gravy over the meat and then start eating your sandwich. Every mouthful of yummy roast beef drenched with the gravy and enveloped by your choice bread. Lovely old fashion fries are served with your sandwich. I love dipping the fries into the gravy meant for the sandwich. And if you do not have enough gravy, ask for more!
If you love duck, a must try here is the Duck Confit @ RM17. The skin is nice, lightly crisp and not oily. Best of all, its just nicely salted! Yummy!
And if you're in a nibbly mood, the deep fried baby prawns @ RM7 is a good idea. Its quite addictive and make a good nibble when you're chilling over a good book.
The Nicoise Salad @ RM15 is good for the days when I need something light. Fresh tuna sashimi and some anchovies (ikan bilis) over a bed of green salad. Blissfully refreshing. And I would say its a brilliant healthy meal on its own too!
The Deli is simply an amazing place if you love coffee with desserts. Perfect for tea time (actually anytime is good for desserts and coffee).

My all time favourite is the Apple Tart @ RM10. Slightly caramelised apples and the crispy base goes so well with the dollop of home made vanilla ice cream. have it with a cup of Illy coffee. The vanilla ice cream is home made. Look carefully and you'll see bits of the vanilla pods in it.
Not many places serve Pithivier. So if you're here, you must give their Pithivier @ RM10 a try. Light fluffy pastry with rich almond paste in it served with a dollop of home made vanilla ice cream.
And if you have kids with you. Or if you're a kid yourself (like me), the ice creams are a must at RM10 for 2 scoops. I love the vanilla and strawberry the most. Similar to the vanilla, the strawberry ice cream has bits of real strawberry in it. Another recommended flavour is the caramel. Not overly sweet, it has a rich caramelise touch to it.
Coffee is served with a a lovely piece of marshmallow on the side. Putting a marshmallow into your ocffee does give it a nice subtle sweet taste and a happy flavour that's very happily marshmallow. Doesn't make sense? Dip one onto your coffee!
Food is not expensive at The Deli. And its free parking any time when you dine or even have a coffee here. Beats going to any shopping mall!

The Deli is at the lobby of Micasa All Suite Hotel
368B Jalan Tun Razak, 50400 Kuala Lumpur
Tel: +603 2179 8000
• Open from 11am to 7pm. (Closed on Sundays)
